Chukwuyere is a Nigerian qualified Solicitor and presently the head of the Telecoms, Media and Technology (TMT) practice at Streamsowers & Köhn , and also a Senior Research Fellow at the African Academic Network on Internet Policy (AANoIP) where his law practice and research interest focus are on the legal and public policy issues of the digital economy and technology. From September 2018 until June 2019, Chukwuyere was a Tech Policy Fellow at Mozilla Foundation where he engaged stakeholders and conducted research on net neutrality and prevailing data protection issues in Nigeria.
As a Solicitor, Chukwuyere regularly advises businesses operating in the digital economy such as internet service providers, mobile network operators, social media networks, software manufacturers, e-commerce platforms, original equipment manufacturers and cloud providers. As a tech policy researcher, Chukwuyere has worked with local and international civil society organisations, non-profits, international development organisations and think tanks such as the Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA), African Academic Network on Internet Policy, Mozilla Foundation, World Wide Web Foundation, Alliance for Affordable Internet, Tetra Tech International Development, and Simply Secure to lead or contribute to milestone setting research and studies in support of their mission objectives concerning the digital economy. Chukwuyere is the author of Regulating Anti-competitive Practices in Nigeria’s Communications Sector, (Wolf Legal Publishers, Netherlands, January 2017).
Chukwuyere was educated at the University of Benin, Nigeria (2003) where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B), at the Nigeria Law School (2005) where he obtained his Barrister-at-Law professional certificate, and jointly at the University of Hannover, Germany and Strathclyde University, Scotland (2009) where he obtained his Master of Law (LL.M) degree in Information Technology & Intellectual Property Law (Magna Cum Laude). Chukwuyere, is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Chartered Institute for Arbitrators, is a Certified Information Privacy Professional-Europe (CIPP/E) and a British Computer Society (BCS) Certified Practitioner of Data Protection.
