Chukwuyere is presently a Senior Counsel at Streamsowers & Köhn and a Senior Research Fellow at the African Academic Network on Internet Policy (AANoIP) where his practice and research focus on all areas of competition, intellectual property and telecommunications law. From September 2018 until June 2019, Chukwuyere was a Tech Policy Fellow at Mozilla Foundation where he engaged stakeholders and conducted academic research on issues relating to net-neutrality and prevailing data protection issues online in Nigeria.
At Streamsowers & Köhn, Chukwuyere has assisted several telecommunications and media clients to overcome industry wide regulatory hurdles by either providing legal advice or designing programmes to ensure compliance with their legal obligations. These clients have included an international social media network, a video-on-demand (VoD) service, a mobile network operator, a global media conglomerate, an internet exchange point and an online market place. Chukwuyere is an author on Lexology, where he contributes to the Nigerian chapters on Telecoms and Media, and Dominance.
As a researcher, Chukwuyere has worked with international civil society organisations such as Mozilla Foundation, World Wide Web Foundation and Alliance for Affordable Internet to lead milestone setting policy researches and studies in support of their mission objectives concerning the digital economy. Chukwuyere is the author of Regulating Anti-competitive Practices in Nigeria’s Communications Sector, (Wolf Legal Publishers, Netherlands, January 2017)
Chukwuyere was educated at the University of Benin, Nigeria (2003) where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B), at the Nigeria Law School (2005) where he obtained his Barrister-at-Law professional certificate, and jointly at the University of Hannover, Germany and Strathclyde University, Scotland (2009) where he obtained his Master of Law (LL.M) degree in Information Technology & Intellectual Property Law (Magna Cum Laude). Chukwuyere is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, Chartered Institute for Arbitrators, a Certified Information Privacy Professional-Europe (CIPP/E) and a British Computer Society (BCS) Certified Practitioner of Data Protection.
